Professor Harald Rosenthal's 80th birthday

On June 7-10th, 2017 Ákos went to Hamburg and Neu Wulmstorf, Germany to participate at the celebration of the 80th birthday of Professor Harald Rosenthal, professor of the University of Kiel, founder and honorary editor of the Journal of Applied Ichthyology, president of the World Sturgeon Conservation Society, Past President of the European Aquaculture Society (formerly known as the European Mariculture Society), holder of honorary doctorates at several universities (including ours) whose groundbreaking work in various fields of aquaculture was an inspiration to many younger scientists. Professor Rosenthal took a very active part in the formation of the AQUAGAMETE community and COST Action and supported the biennial International Workshops on the Biology of Fish Gametes from the very beginning by publishing the proceedings of these meetings in his journal. For this reason Professor Juan F. Asturiano of the Universitat Politècnica de València and Ákos as representatives of the former COST Action FA1205 AQUAGAMETE gave a presentation of the results of the Action at the mini-conference organized on the first day of the birthday celebrations in the town hall of Neu Wulmstorf and then attended the birthday dinner given in honor of Professor Rosenthal. Both events were attended by a multitude of former students and friends showing his impact on the formation of European aquaculture.
Dear Harald, we wish you a very happy birthday and many more years in good health!
